Set up your zones
- In your dashboard, go to Settings → Shipping.
- Click Add shipping zone, name it, and pick the countries it covers. For the United States you can also pick single states.
- Add one or more rates: a name shoppers see (Standard, Express), a price, and an optional delivery time such as “3–5 business days”.
- Click Save. Your live checkout uses the new rates right away.
Free shipping over an amount
On a rate, use Free shipping over and type the amount. That rate is free and shows only when the products in the cart add up to at least that amount. Keep a paid rate for smaller orders. Set it to Orders under the same amount so shoppers see one price, not two. The amount is the products’ total before discount codes, in your store’s currency. It’s the same number the cart shows, so the storefront cart can say “Spend $12 more for free shipping” and checkout agrees. Shoppers paying in another currency see the amount converted.More conditions
Under More conditions, a rate can also apply only to:- Orders between two amounts, for example a cheaper rate for orders under $20.
- Parcels in a weight range. The weight comes from each product variant’s weight.
Which rates a shopper sees
- A zone that names the shopper’s state wins, then a zone that names their country, then Everywhere else.
- From that zone, checkout offers the rates whose conditions fit the cart, cheapest first.
- If no zone covers the address, checkout says “We don’t ship to this country yet” and the shopper can’t pay. Add an Everywhere else zone to keep selling to every country.
The amount you charge is always checked again when the shopper pays. A rate that doesn’t deliver to the shopper’s address, or whose conditions the cart no longer meets, is refused, and the shopper is asked to pick another.
For agents
Agents read and change zones withdtc_list_shipping_zones, dtc_upsert_shipping_zone and dtc_delete_shipping_zone. Each change shows you the before and after and waits for your confirmation, because every shopper pays the new price at once. See the tool catalog.
