A location is a place where you sell in person: a shop, a stall, a pop-up. Every card reader, cash drawer and sale belongs to one location. You can have as many locations as you need.

Create a location

In Point of Sale, add a location and fill in:
  • Name — how the location appears in POS and on receipts.
  • Address — street, city, state or region, postal code and country. It is printed on receipts.
  • Tax rate — the rate added to taxable items sold at this location. Catalog items are taxed; for a custom item you choose whether it is taxable.
  • Inventory location (optional) — the stock location in-person sales take stock from. When a sale completes, the quantity sold is taken off that location’s stock for any item that has a stock level there. Leave it empty and in-person sales do not change your stock.
A location must be in the same country as your PlatformDTC Payments account, and its sales are in that account’s currency. If card payments are not active on your store yet, set up payments in Settings → Payment Provider before creating a location.

Edit a location

You can change a location’s name, address, tax rate and inventory location at any time. A new tax rate applies to sales started after the change; completed sales keep the tax they were charged.

Remove a location

A location can be archived once nothing is still using it. You are asked to first: Archiving keeps the location’s past sales, drawer history and orders.
