Your checkout charges cards through one active card provider at a time. PayPal is separate: it is offered next to the card form, whichever card provider is active. All of this lives at Settings → Payments. Third-party card gateways are under Third-party payment providers.

What each provider supports

How each one renews a subscription, and what happens when a renewal fails, is on Subscription renewals by payment method.

PlatformDTC Payments

The default. PlatformDTC Payments runs on Stripe and is set up from Settings → Payments with your business and payout details — no separate Stripe account is needed.

Your own Stripe account

Use this if you already have a Stripe account and want charges and payouts to land there.
1

Open Stripe

Go to Settings → Payments → Third-party payment providers → Stripe Card Payments.
2

Connect

Either sign in at Stripe in the popup (PlatformDTC never sees your Stripe password), or paste your publishable key (pk_…) and secret key (sk_… or a restricted rk_… key).
3

Activate

Click Activate Stripe Card Payments. It becomes the active card provider and the list shows it as Active.

Authorize.Net

Authorize.Net is a gateway: charges run against your own Authorize.Net merchant account.
1

Find your keys

In the Authorize.Net Merchant Interface, go to Account → Security Settings and copy your API Login ID and Transaction Key.
2

Connect

Go to Settings → Payments → Third-party payment providers → Authorize.net and paste both. PlatformDTC checks them with Authorize.Net before saving; wrong keys are rejected straight away. The Transaction Key is stored encrypted and never sent to the browser.
3

Activate

Click Activate Authorize.Net.
Card details are collected by Authorize.Net’s own form on your checkout; only a single-use token reaches PlatformDTC.

Subscriptions on Authorize.Net

When a customer checks out a subscription, Authorize.Net saves their card in a customer profile on your Authorize.Net account, and renewals charge that profile as a recurring card-on-file payment. If the customer later updates their card in the customer portal, the subscription moves to Stripe — see When a customer updates their card.

Authorize.Net refunds

  • Settled payments are refunded, in full or in part.
  • Payments not yet settled (usually the same day) can only be refunded in full — the payment is voided instead of refunded. A partial refund is refused until the payment settles.
Both work from the order page, for checkout orders and for renewal orders.

PayPal

Connect PayPal from Settings → Payments by signing in to your PayPal business account, then activate it. PayPal appears at checkout next to the card form. For subscriptions, PayPal saves the customer’s PayPal account so renewals can charge it — see PayPal renewals. To send tracking numbers to PayPal automatically, see Send tracking to PayPal.

Switching providers

Only one card provider is active. Activating another one replaces it for new checkouts. Subscriptions keep renewing through the provider their customer signed up with, so don’t disconnect a provider while subscriptions still depend on it.
