Open the drawer
In Point of Sale, choose the location and open the drawer with your opening float — the cash already in the drawer. Enter 0 if it is empty.During the day
POS tracks the cash that should be in the drawer:- Cash sales add the cash kept for the sale (the change you gave back is already taken off).
- Cash refunds take cash out.
- Pay in — record cash added to the drawer for any other reason, such as topping up change, with a note.
- Pay out — record cash taken out, such as a purchase paid from the till or a bank drop, with a note.
Close the drawer
Count the cash in the drawer and enter the counted cash, with a note if you need one. PlatformDTC shows:- Expected cash — opening float + cash sales + pay ins − cash refunds − pay outs.
- Counted cash — what you entered.
- Difference — counted minus expected. A negative difference means cash is short; a positive one means there is more than expected.
