PlatformDTC POS takes card payments on countertop smart readers we supply. A reader connects to the internet on its own and is paired to one location in your store. A location can have several readers.

Get a reader

Readers are ordered through our sales team. Contact sales and choose Point of Sale; tell us how many locations and counters you are setting up.

Connect the reader to the internet

Turn the reader on and connect it to the internet, following the setup screens on the reader.

Generate a pairing code

On the reader, open Settings and choose Generate pairing code. The reader shows a short code.

Enter the code in PlatformDTC

In Point of Sale, add a reader to the location, enter the pairing code and give the reader a label — for example Front counter — so you can tell your readers apart.
The reader then appears under its location with its label, its serial number and whether it is online or offline.
A reader must be in the same country as your PlatformDTC Payments account. If card payments are not active on your store, POS asks you to finish setting up payments in Settings → Payment Provider before pairing.

Rename or remove a reader

  • Rename — change the label at any time.
  • Remove — unpairs the reader from your store. Payments already taken on it stay on their sales and orders. To use the reader again, generate a new pairing code on it and pair it again.

If a reader shows offline

A reader that is offline cannot take a payment. Check that it is switched on and connected to the internet. A reader that is already busy with a payment cannot start a second one until the first is finished or canceled.
