- Stars under the title, with the number of reviews. Clicking them scrolls to the reviews.
- Item Reviews: the average rating, “Based on N reviews”, a 5 to 1 star breakdown, and a Write a Review button.
- Reviews with Images: a strip of shopper photos. Clicking one opens it with its review.
- Top reviews: sort by top or most recent, filter by star rating (with counts), and pages of reviews showing name, a Verified Purchase badge, date, stars, text, photos and your reply.
Turn reviews on
1
Open Reviews
In the dashboard go to Products → Reviews.
2
Switch on reviews
Turn on Show reviews on your store. Choose whether new reviews go live straight away
(Publish new reviews automatically, on by default) or wait for your approval as Pending.
3
Add the section to your product page
In the theme editor open the product template and add the Product reviews section (the default theme
and Daily Ritual already include it). Its settings: heading, photo strip on/off and its heading, list heading,
default sort, reviews per page (5 to 20), the Write a Review button, colors and spacing.
How a shopper writes a review
The Write a Review form asks for a name, email, order number, a 1 to 5 star rating, an optional title, the review, and up to 5 photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB each). The review is accepted only when the order with that number was placed on your store with that email, contains the product, and was not cancelled. Each order can review each product once. A shopper who bought the product on two orders can leave two reviews.Photos are re-saved before they are published: location data (GPS) and other camera metadata are removed, the
photo is turned upright, and large photos are resized to 2048 pixels on the long side. Only the reviewer’s first
name and last initial are shown publicly (for example “Anna P.”). Their email is visible only to you.
Moderate and reply
Products → Reviews lists every review with its product, reviewer, order number, rating, text and photos. Filter by status (All, Published, Pending, Hidden), by star rating, or search by name, email, text or product.- Publish a pending or hidden review.
- Hide a review. It stays in your list and can be published again.
- Reply publicly. Your reply appears under the review on your store. Save an empty reply to remove it.
- Delete a review. The shopper can then review the product again with the same order.
Ask buyers for a review
Review requests email each buyer once their order has arrived, the way Judge.me’s review requests work. The email lists what they ordered, each product with five stars. Tapping a star opens a review page with that rating already chosen, where the buyer can review every product of the order without typing an email or order number: the link proves the purchase, so these reviews are verified purchases too.1

Choose the timing
Days after delivery (1 to 60, default 7) counts from the day the carrier scanned the parcel as delivered.
If no delivery scan, days after fulfilment (1 to 90, default 21) covers orders that never get a delivery scan.
Save.
- Only orders placed after you turn review requests on. Turning them on never emails your past buyers. Turning them off and on again starts from that moment.
- One email per order, for paid orders that were not cancelled.
- Never twice about the same product. A product the buyer already reviewed, or was already asked about on an earlier order, is left out. An order with nothing left to ask about is not emailed.
- Only buyers who agreed to receive your marketing emails, and never an address that bounced or complained. Every email has an unsubscribe link; a buyer who unsubscribes gets no more review requests or marketing emails.
- Reviews written from a request follow Publish new reviews automatically like any other review.
- Links in the email work for a year.
The review page opens on your store’s checkout address: your own domain when your checkout runs on it, otherwise
platformdtc.com/checkout.
Import reviews from another app
Bring the reviews you collected on Shopify with you. Products → Reviews → Import reviews takes the CSV export of:1
Upload the file
Choose the app (or leave Auto-detect) and the CSV file, up to 20 MB and 50,000 reviews.
2
Check the file
Nothing is written yet. You see how many reviews are ready, how many were already imported, and which rows cannot
be imported and why: no matching product, a missing or unreadable date, a rating outside 1 to 5, a review with no
text, title or photo, or a Yotpo store review (not about a product). Download the problem rows as a CSV to fix them.
3
Import
Click Import. Reviews keep their original date, rating, text, reviewer name and your replies.
- Matching products. A row is matched to your product by the Shopify product id (for products you imported from Shopify), the product handle, a SKU that belongs to exactly one product, or the handle in a product URL.
- Status. Published reviews stay published; reviews that were pending stay pending; spam, rejected or unpublished ones are imported hidden.
- Verified. An imported review shows Verified purchase only when the app it came from verified it (Yotpo’s Verified Buyer, Loox’s verified purchase). Judge.me and Shopify Product Reviews exports do not include it.
- Photos (Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox) are copied to your store within a few minutes of the import, re-saved the same way as shopper photos. A photo that can no longer be downloaded is left out.
- Importing twice is safe. Uploading the same file again, or a newer export that includes it, adds only the new reviews. A review you deleted after importing it is not brought back.
API
not_verified is the same answer for a wrong email, a wrong order number or an order without the product, so
the form cannot be used to discover your order numbers.
