/pages/<handle>, which you can link to from
a menu or show on your home page with a theme section.
Open it from Online Store → Pages, or go straight to
platformdtc.com/online-store/pages.
Pages are shown by themes built with the new theme editor that include a page section. Landing pages
you build with the page builder are a separate feature, under Online Store → Landing pages.
Create a page
1
Add a page
On the Pages list, add a page.
2
Write it
Give it a title and write the content in the editor: headings, paragraphs, bold and italic
text, lists, links, images, tables and quotes. You can also embed a YouTube or Vimeo video.
3
Choose visibility
Set the page to Visible or Hidden. See Visibility.
4
Save
Save the page. A visible page reaches your live store within a short while, without publishing your
theme again.
Visibility
- Visible — the page is on your store, and menu links to it are shown.
- Hidden — the page is kept as a draft. It isn’t on your store, and any menu link to it is left out until you make the page visible.
Search engine listing
Each page has its own search engine listing:- Page title — the title shown in search results and the browser tab. Leave it empty to use the page title.
- Meta description — the short summary under the title in search results, up to 512 characters.
- URL handle — the last part of the page’s address.
The URL handle
The handle is made from the title when you create the page — About Our Brand becomesabout-our-brand, and the page’s address is /pages/about-our-brand.
The handle doesn’t change when you rename the page, so links to the page, menu links and theme
sections that use it keep working. You can change the handle yourself; menu links that point to the
page follow the new handle, but links you’ve shared elsewhere, such as in emails or ads, still use the
old address.
Handles use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, and each page’s handle must be unique.
Some handles are already used by pages your store has built in — for example about, contact,
track, account, faqs, refund-policy, privacy-policy, terms-of-service and
shipping-policy. A page can’t use one of those handles. If you create a page whose title would
produce one, such as About, it’s given the next free handle, about-2; you can change it to
something else.
