A blog is a collection of blog posts, like News or Journal. Every post belongs to exactly one blog. A blog’s address is /blogs/<blog handle> and a post’s address is /blogs/<blog handle>/<post handle>. Open it from Online Store → Blog posts, or go straight to platformdtc.com/online-store/blog-posts. The list shows posts from all your blogs; filter it by blog or visibility, or search by title.
Blogs and posts are shown by themes built with the new theme editor that include a blog or featured blog section.

Manage blogs

Create, rename and delete blogs from Manage blogs (platformdtc.com/online-store/blog-posts/blogs). You need at least one blog before you can write a post. Each blog has a title, a handle and its own search engine listing (title and meta description).
Deleting a blog also deletes every post in it. Move any posts you want to keep to another blog first.

Add a blog post

From the Blog posts list, add a post.

Write it

Give it a title and write the content: headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, tables, quotes, and YouTube or Vimeo videos.

Add the details

Choose the blog it belongs to, and optionally set the author, excerpt, featured image and tags.

Choose visibility and save

Set the post to Visible or Hidden, then save.
For your shoppers’ safety, scripts, style blocks and embeds other than YouTube and Vimeo are removed from post content when you save.

Visibility

  • Visible — the post is on your store, listed newest first by its publish date.
  • Hidden — the post is kept as a draft and isn’t on your store.
You can set a publish date in the past, for example when moving posts from another platform. Scheduling a post for a later date isn’t available — a publish date in the future can’t be saved.

Move a post to another blog

Change the post’s blog and save. The post’s address changes to the new blog’s handle. Its own handle must not already be used by a post in that blog — if it is, change one of the two handles first.

Search engine listing and handle

Like pages, each blog and post has a page title, meta description and URL handle. The handle is made from the title when you create the post and doesn’t change when you rename it. Post handles only need to be unique within their blog, so News and Journal can each have a post called hello. Menu links to a post that is deleted or hidden disappear from your store and are marked with a warning in the menu editor.
